Like i explained in my last blog the book Pandemonium is split up into 2 different types of chapters that are titled now and then. While reading the book more i don't they will ever connect. The reason why I think Lauren Oliver tried to write the book like this is because after the first book Delirium it would take at least one whole book for each storyline in the book. So to be able to explain both story lines she wrote it like this.
In the now storyline she just went to a meeting with the DFA (delirium free america) and the scavengers (which are a certain form of outside who highly disagree with what the DFA is doing) came in as surprised guests in the meeting... people started to scream and run to hiding. Lena ran and almost got caught. She woke up in a jail cell, realizing she is probably being held captive by the scavengers.
In the then storyline it is near winter so they have to get ready to start gathering supplies and move to a different location. They also have a way of connecting with people within the walls that give them some of their supplies. The system is that they have birds come and paint there nest a color. Green means everything is good and suppliers are coming in. Yellow means there is a delay and they will be there in a couple days and red... means run. You can guess what color the bird painted when Lena saw the wilds burst into flames.
I thought your blog was very interesting.
